The title line was first used on a stone carving I made for my wife last Christmas (www.stone-artist.com) That inspired a poem I was invited to read at a friend's wedding. The line was then used in this reggae song written for FAWM.org's February is Album Writing Month 2010 and appears on a compilation cd from the event. Co-writer Delroy Golding was formerly a percussionist for Burning Spear. He presented me with the music fully formed. My nephew Dave Marion layed down the guitar tracks for him (Delroy has known Dave since he was a baby.) I'm really proud to have made this universal love song with these two dear men.
lyrics
Up from the rocks to the roots
To the top of the tree
From the rock, from the rock
to the root
Up from the rock
To the top, to the top
Buzzier bees and busier birds
Ever since you gave me your word
You are a blossom on the tree of life
Flowers are delicate and temporary
Unlikely sanctuary way up here
Swaying in the breeze, at the top of the tree
Tender roots to tender shoots
Did I find you or you find me
Way up here swaying in the breeze
At the top of the tree
