For better, or worse- I've set two short (consecutive) Emily Dickinson poems to music, making one song. Wild Nights, Wild Nights and Hope Is The Thing With Feathers
lyrics
Rowing in Eden
Rowing in Eden, Ah, the Sea!
Wild nights - Wild nights!
Were I with thee
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!
Futile - the winds -
To a Heart in port -
Done with the Compass -
Done with the Chart!
Rowing in Eden -
Ah - the Sea!
Might I but moor - tonight
In thee!
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all
And sweetest in the Gale is heard
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm
I’ve heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest Sea
Yet never in Extremity
It asked a crumb of me.
